After prohibition ended in 1934 Joe Quinn was able to open one of the first ten bars to open in Connecticut. The Sisson tavern opened where the Wood’N’Tap is today in 1934. The business was operated by the family. Ivan Finkle spent ten years saving and working to convert a grocery store across the street from his old business and reopen his establishment in its current location 1972 as The Original Sisson Tavern.
The current owners acquired the property in April 2008 and renovated it to its current standards.
